Lawyer Sounds Alarm on Carney’s “Dystopian” Bill as U.S. Warns Liberals
Bill C-22, An Act respecting lawful access, is causing concern on both sides of the border.
Bill C-22, also known as the Lawful Access Act, is legislation critics have described as dystopian, warning it could significantly expand the Carney government’s surveillance powers.
The Liberals argue the bill is necessary for national security. But critics say it could go much further, raising serious concerns about privacy, civil liberties, and fundamental rights in Canada.
